HACCP Compliant - Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points Program
In our continuing interest to deliver the best possible products to our customers, we at Smith Packing have a fully implemented HACCP safety system in our meat manufacturing and distribution segment, as well as in our seafood department.
We at Smith Packing Company want to assure you that we will continue to provide the best products manufactured in the safest environment possible.
Advantages of HACCP:
- Focuses on identifying and preventing hazards from contaminating food.
- Permits more efficient and effective government oversight, primarily because the recordkeeping allows investigators to see how well a firm is complying with food safety laws over a period rather than how well it is doing on any given day.
- Places responsibility for ensuring for safety appropriately on the food manufacturer or distributor.
- Helps food companies compete more effectively in the world market.
- Reduces barriers to international trade.
E.Coli & Listeria Testing
Smith Packing Company, Inc. considers food safety our #1 priority. For many years, we have implemented multiple intervention methods for food safety at our facility.
In addition to these interventions, we have traditional inspections throughout our facility and our programs are periodically reassessed for improvements and monitored by USDA.
Smith Packing Company Ground Beef Patties are ALWAYS manufactured, using raw material tested for E.coli 0157:H7. As a standard operating procedure, we conduct Laboratory Testing, consistent with USDA protocol, for product sampling on our family of fully cooked products. Listeria testing is done on a rigid schedule, in compliance with USDA protocol, to insure that all cooked products are safe & delicious.
Smith Packing Company is proud to report that an independent Food Safety Audit performed by Steritech yielded Smith Packing Company an excellent rating. This study was based on five aspects of food safety:
- Food Safety/Security
- Pest Control
- Operation Conditions
- Facility Conditions
- Plant Cleanliness
